Archaeological Museum of S. Miguel de Odrinhas
Brief Description: The most important archaeological site in Sintra, dating back to Roman times. Has a museum and several offices housing thousands of artifacts.
Year Built: 1955 (Museum built). The ruins and artifacts date around 1st century BC. Some older artifacts are from the Bronze age.
Highlights: large monumental stone artifacts, with Syrian-Byzantine motifs. Three Etruscan sarcophagi brought from Italy in the 19th century by Sir Francis Cook for the Monserrate Estate. Outdoor ruins with mosaic floor from a Roman temple.
