Tawny Niepoort is an excellent gateway to the magical world of Tawnies. The grapes come from low-yielding vineyards in the Cima Corgo region of the Douro Valley. It is a relatively young wine, resulting from a blend of several harvests and aging for an average of three and a half years in small old oak casks in the cellars of Niepoort in Vila Nova de Gaia. It has a vibrant and bright color, with aromas of dried fruits and a youthful and fruity character. It does not contain sediment and does not require decanting. It pairs well with chocolate desserts and can also be served slightly chilled as an aperitif, with pâtés or foie gras.
